A Bike Tarrytown member testified the following to Tarrytown’s Board of Trustees on 5/8/19 regarding the Village’s proposed anti-cycling law:

“The language is perceived by the community as being not supportive of bikes. If you have language that is confusing and can be misinterpreted, that can be weaponized against people.

You’re perpetuating car culture and the entitlement of cars.

If we’re really worried about pedestrian safety, I wouldn’t worry about bikes on the sidewalks, I’d start at crosswalks. How many times are you trying to cross the road and people [in cars] just blow by.”
