Story of a man’s journey on a bicycle as he explore the unexplored side of himself and life around him.
I bought my first single geared bicycle in 2015 with a sheer idea of getting fitter and make it part of my daily life by doing errands, riding to work and more. I started enjoying it initially but when people started shamming me for riding a bicycle, I was taken a back for a moment. But then I didn’t let people stop me and started riding more. The daily commute turned into long weekend rides, which later turned into a passion to ride everyday and to inspire others around me to take up cycling. Cycling became my yoga and my meditation.
The next thing I fell in love with was touring on bicycle. I started going places on my bicycle. From Bombay to Lonavala, Guwahati to Shillong, to cycling Thailand and Vietnam and conquering the mighty Himalayas, I have done it all and can’t wait to ride more and explore new places. For me, traveling on bicycle is about going deeper, connecting with locals, living with them and being one of them, living their life, and exploring the unexplored side of world, people and yourself. It is a way of life where you put yourself on test every time you start your ride. Bicycle Touring doesn’t teach you independence – it hones your independence and makes you more self-sufficient. It teaches you to survive in an occasionally tough, but always alien environment. And once you’ve figured out how to survive in this strange world, then you can embrace its difference, marvelling at its richness and its unceasing variety. I have realised that the only way to find out about the world is to explore it one step at a time.
And it is the moment when you experience magic. It is a moment when your body gets into the flow and your mind stops telling you to stop. It is the moment of liberation and self love. It is the moment when you make yourself a new comfort zone, a zone where your mind is in sync with your body and soul. The happiest in you comes out and you end up showering love and happy vibes around you.
