While you’re travelling around Cuba, a lot of questions come into your mind. We all know that history can be interpreted in many different ways. Of course, there’s nothing better than being in a place where you can ask eyewitnesses and sense which way the wind’s blowing.
Cuba is a very good history lesson. We start with Columbus and the Caribbean pirates and eventually come all the way to the Cuban revolution which transformed the island into “one of the most interesting pages in the history of socialism”.
There’s lot to listen to, see and learn in Cuba. The island is like a museum devoted to a huge idea which survived for decades despite the island’s self-imposed isolation, an idea which developed social projects, eradicated illiteracy, established a good health care system to serve its people. But has this idea been a success from all points of view?
We’re on our way to one of the most notable towns in Cuba – Santa Clara. About 60 years ago, Che Guevara won the last battle of the Cuban Revolution here. Now the town is a monument ot the most emblematic rebel in the world. We can’t hide our excitement about Che. That’s why were here, to learn as much as we can about the charismatic figure who won the hearts of thousands of people all around the world.
