Forgiveness is the foundation for receiving all the benefits and promises of the Kingdom and if we don’t forgive, we won’t have God’s forgiveness!

So how is forgiveness manifested through us towards others?

Rom. 12:14-20 says, “14 Bless them that persecute you; bless, and curse not. 15 Rejoice with them that rejoice; weep with them that weep. 16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Set not your mind on high things, but condescend to things that are lowly. Be not wise in your own conceits. 17 Render to no man evil for evil. Take thought for things honorable in the sight of all men. 18 If it be possible, as much as in you lieth, be at peace with all men. 19 Avenge not yourselves, beloved, but give place unto the wrath of God : for it is written, Vengeance belongeth unto me; I will recompense, saith the Lord. 20 But if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him to drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head.”

When we are persecuted by someone; we don’t really want to forgive them do we? But, you see, we don’t have any choice! It’s the right thing to do: Seeing how the Lord forgave us such a great debt, we ought to forgive everyone else their debts.

This doesn’t mean that God will forgive them because, if they don’t forgive us, He won’t forgive them.

Jesus said in Mat. 5:38-39, “38 Ye have heard that it was said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: 39 but I say unto you, resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.” and Mat. 5:43-44, “43 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy: 44 but I say unto you, love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you; ”

If we are faithful to obey these commands, our Father will be the one to punish our enemies, but, if we don’t obey them and we retaliate then it is we who will receive the punishment.

Why has God given us these commands? Because that’s what it is to go to our cross! What did Jesus do to resist His cross? He didn’t do anything! He didn’t even try to talk them out of it!

Men put Jesus on His cross but He said, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Jesus understood that God ordained the cross for Him, not just wicked men! Jesus saw God’s purpose on the other side of the situation.

Jesus could have fought with these men, but He would have been fighting with God. He could have been unforgiving of them but, He would have been unforgiving of God. And He could have judged them but, He would have been judging God.

God’s job is to judge and our job is to forgive!

If we deny ourselves and take up our cross to follow Jesus we will have His life. (Mat. 10:38-39.)
Rom. 6:5, “For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;”

THE CURSE OF UNFORGIVENESS PART:2

A major reason why people don’t receive what they need from God is unforgiveness!

Unforgiveness comes in many forms. It can be a critical spirit, bitterness, wrath , anger, irritation and many times we don’t even recognize it.

So God has to bring us to places in our lives that causes us to stop and think about it and have opportunity to confess and renounce it because, if we don’t, we won’t receive anything from God, especially forgiveness.

The Word says in Mat. 18:32-35, “32 Then his lord called him unto him, and saith to him, Thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou besoughtest me: 33 shouldest not thou also have had mercy on thy fellow-servant, even as I had mercy on thee? 34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due. 35 So shall also my heavenly Father do unto you, if ye forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.”

Obviously, if we’re not forgiven by God we have forfeited our salvation and eternal life!
