This is a haunted house. Fears, anxieties and desires and hidden behind its doors. Repressed memories wander like ghosts.
The blurred boundaries between the house, the body and the psyche are the focal point of this film by Daniela Benaim, Maco Diaz and Catalina Quintana. An ode to the Venezuelan classic radio show Nuestro Insólito Universo (Our Unusual Universe), in which the host Porfirio Torres narrates strange, but real-life mysteries, it tells the fictional story of Nancy Quintana, a migrant woman who, after fainting, wakes up in her childhood home, surrounded by spectres of the past.
The sets recreate installations by Edward and Nancy Kienholz, such as The Wait (1964-65), The Soup Course at She-She Café (1982), and In the Infield Was Patty Peccavi (1981). There are also references to Marisol Escobar’s sculptures.
