This is what is, HappyLand, a community of slums centered around…
Thank you so much for joining me in watching this short film, if you enjoyed and/or appreciated the film, please consider sharing it to your social media, as this is the only way these stories will be heard. Please use the #nomopagpag. I have so many ideas for this community. I will be going back to Manila to live in HappyLand in February of 2020 to make things happen for these families. I plan to build my first 100% plastic shack outside of the slums and continue to move forward with this long-term effort. Manila, is the most densely populated space on the planet, who also have the worst plastic crisis on the planet, all the while HappyLand is considered the dump for all of it. This goal is very tangible and realistic, and will be sustainable long-term as we get families out of this cycle. I also plan to use any donations to buy a tool called ‘Taho’. Jefferson has informed me that with this tool, which cost less than $300, any father in the community could earn a sustainable daily income to feed their families and begin to save. I will be teaching these families how to make plastic mattresses, pillows, shacks and how to budget as well. But first things first, #nomopagpag.
You can find all of my goals on my website, as well as a way to donate. I will have my Non-Profit 501(c)(3) done by January 2020, which will allow me to move forward further in this humanitarian space and accept tax-deductible donations. But until then I have several GOFUNDME’s set up for very specific needs for HappyLand. I will be using any funds I receive on my website to fill absolute necessities for countless lives in HappyLand in early 2020. My goal is to be the most transparent donation platform ever. So I have created several GOFUNDME’s for each specific item you would like to sponsor for families in HappyLand.
My system is streamlined, structured, and simple. Please visit my website:
There will be many who respond to this film negatively and call me a “white saviour”, so here is my response: A White Saviour is someone who goes into an impoverished and desperate situation to help give kids what they want, get credit for it, get burnt out, and go back home to their comfortable life, until they are ready to go back and complete the process over again.
This is not me, far from it.
This is me providing absolute necessities, items in which every human on this earth deserves. Yes, I have my long-term goals. But can we skip TO the long-term goals without fulfilling the short-term goals? The harvest here is pouring over plenty but laborer must be fed first. I believe we are all created valuable, in the image of the Most High. I believe there are certain qualities of life that no human should be left without. And one of these includes food. This is not me seeing what ought not to be, wanting to do something about it, and taking a few pictures with some cute kids so girls on my IG will think I’m a ‘nice guy’. Far from it. This is me seeing what ought not to be, and doing something about it. I am going back to Manila to live in these slums, a white saviour doesn’t do that. This is me being me, anyone who knows me will see this as that. So please before you start your condescending commenting, consider the facts, HappyLand is in dire need of us, and I will be there making it happen. Your time of typing out a negative comment could be much better used in HappyLand or in literally any community of likeness around the world changing the situation rather than condemning the one trying to.
Much love to you all,
P.S. Yes I received consent from all families who are in this video. I had my DJI Osmo Pocket out the whole time and specifically asked every single person in this video, if it was okay for me to take a video to have in an upcoming documentary on YouTube. And for the kids, I showed their parents, and they confirmed they were okay with it. Thank you.
