Fishpeople (Patagonia) X Pocahontas X Tori Kelly mashup.
Tori Kelly, “Colors of the wind” from Pocahontas
Oh Yeon Joon, ” colors of
the Wind ” Korean
I’m completely drained after a stressful couple weeks and needed a creative outlet. Even when I try to relax, my mind runs 1000 mph and sometimes I just have to let it search for whatever it’s looking for. Many things catch my attention & my mind tries to find associations between them.
Patagonia’s “Fishpeople” documentary was pretty inspiring and my mind took off…from purity, nature and beauty, to today’s unrest, injustice, misunderstanding & mischaracterization of people on all sides…Our lack of discipline and humility and creativity when engaging our so called enemies…
How Kimi Warner, Matahi and others in Fishpeople portray holy characteristics reminding me of Genesis 1:26 which says, “Then God said, ‘Let us make man[h] in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ ”
I see glimpses of myself in John Smith and Pocahontas…
I’ve always been a fan of Tori Kelly and her personality not to mention her vocals…
…’round and ’round my mind goes…its hard to keep up, but I know there are valuable lessons in these seemingly disparate thoughts once the dots are connected.
There’s alot more I wanna say, I’ll probably write more completed thoughts later…i’m still processing while trying to balance other parts of my life.
8:38 Kimi Werner [FISHPEOPLE]:
“I would get pretty terrified if I saw a shark. I think slowly I just started to get more comfortable with them. And then one day I just remember something changed in me where I was pulling in a nice fish that I was going to bring home for dinner and this big shark came up to take it and I just swam faster towards my catch. Pulled it in faster closer to me … everything that was bringing this Shark much closer to me, but I got my hands on it and just pulled it in toward me and swam at that shark just to tell it like ‘Not today buddy, go get your own dinner. This one’s mine.’ And the minute I did that that shark took off.
And that taught me a lot. The energy that I put out there the confidence and the courage that I show in holding my ground it’s going to communicate to the sharks what kind of animal I am”
13:26 Matahi [FISHPEOPLE]:
“My grandfather and my dad always told me to be humble in the water. First, you have to show respect to nature and the ocean.”
