ESAD College of Art & Design ID Master Classes – Masters Product Design – Project SMC BMC Design Awards 2019 (Sustainable Mobility) – 12 September 2019.
Award ceremony experience at the COMPOSITES EUROPE fair in Stuttgart.
The SMC BMC Design Award 2019 was focused on developing new ideas and product solutions for SMC and BMC in Sustainable Mobility.
Student teams from all over Europe sent in a large number of project proposals. These were reviewed in detail by the Jury, against the key selection criteria Creativity, End-user functionality, Feasibility in SMC BMC, and a Minimum of 4 SMC BMC performance criteria used.
The Jury was very happy with the quality of the projects, and the capability of some of the teams to think out-of-the box. While some teams spent a lot of time on the design and manufacture-ability in SMC BMC, others emphasized more the consumer use and marketing aspects.
After a thorough review of the projects, the following three were selected as finalists :
1st; SEV Storage – TU Delft Netherlands (Finn Kooijman)
2nd; ALLE – ESAD Portugal (Maria João Melo, Mauro Silva and Inês Mimoso.
3rd; RAYBOARD – ESAD Portugal (Nídia Rodrigues, Ana Rita Pintão and Simão Chaves)
These finalists were invited to present their projects at the Composites Europe show in Stuttgart (September 10, 12.30-13.30 h., location: Lightweight Technology Forum), where the final prizes will be announced.
More information about these projects will be presented on our web site by early September.
