2021, generative kinetic light installation
–> small version with 150 objects
Distributive intelligence | A group mind is a kinetic light installation questioning the centralized nature of our society, in which few actors control the critical nodes and infrastructures of modern life. It consists of up to 450 mechanical and interactive light objects, which together unfold emergent behavior. The work reflects new forms of collaboration and social interaction by implementing a self-organizing aesthetic produced collectively by individual entities in a real-live space.
The installation is embodying computational models of complex systems through its light communication. The individual objects are forming a pseudo-societal nonhuman interaction space, a dance floor for simple robotic devices, a collectively produced dynamic light architecture by the means of a zero player game.
