Yoga is the practice of calming the mind through breathwork, mental focus, and physical postures. Each class includes a series of asanas (postures) which engage the full body and build both strength and flexibility. Postures are generally held for 5 breaths and breath-to-breath movements are included during transitions between postures. Classes typically begin and end with 5-10 mins of pranayama (breathing exercises) intended to calm the mind and nervous system. Class ends with 5 mins of rest and sometimes a few mins of silent meditation. This class is open to all levels except for complete beginners. Students should have a basic level of familiarity with a vinyasa flow class.
