The Heritage Garden is excited to present two projects for your financial consideration this year; both of which will directly benefit and bless students at Concordia University for many years to come.
The Avocado Orchard at the Heritage Garden will provide Concordia students who visit our Cafe with more of a fruit that they love without increasing their meal costs. Avocados are the most requested food item in the cafe but also one of the most expensive. Through your financial support, we will plant a 15-tree Avocado Orchard in the Heritage Garden that, in three years, should yield 80-100 lbs of avocados per tree per year. That is enough for avocados for 2,500 servings of guacamole or 10,000 more turkey burgers!
Another project we are asking for your support in is the construction of an Herb Garden. This space will serve our students by providing an outdoor area for casual conversations or small group study in and amongst a beautiful garden that will provide our Chef in the Cafe with fresh herbs for the delicious meals they serve every day. We plan to grow not only the traditional herbs found in Western cuisine, but herbs found in international cuisines represented by the diversity of our student body at Concordia University. So while you can expect to find Italian Basil and Rosemary growing in the herb garden, don’t be surprised if you also encounter Cumin, Star Anise, Lemongrass or Sesame.
We thank you for your interest in the Heritage Garden and the development of these two new spaces. Please consider partnering with us financially to bring these ideas to life so that this place will continue to serve as a blessing to the Concordia Community.
